Switching from Authy

The Authy desktop alternative

Twilio shut down the Authy Desktop app in March 2024. If you relied on it for codes on your computer, KeyAuthy brings them back — on Mac, Windows, the web, your phone and Chrome, all kept in sync.

Why KeyAuthy

Everything Authy Desktop did, and more

Real desktop apps

Native Mac and Windows apps, plus the web vault — codes on the computer you actually sign in from.

Phone and Chrome too

Install on your phone's home screen and use the Chrome extension to copy codes right where you log in.

Encrypted sync

Every device stays in step. Your secrets are encrypted on the device before they sync — we can't read them.

Works offline

Codes are generated on your device, so they keep working with no internet.

Backups you control

Encrypted backup files, plus CSV export of your 2FA accounts whenever you want to leave. No lock-in.

Fast setup

Scan QR codes with your camera, paste setup links, or import in bulk.

How to switch

Move your accounts in five steps

Authy doesn't offer an export, so the safest way is to re-add each account. It takes about a minute per account.

  1. 1

    Install KeyAuthy

Get the Mac or Windows app, or open the web vault, and create your vault passcode.

  2. 2

Keep Authy open on your phone

Don't delete Authy yet — you'll need its codes to sign in to each account while you move it.

  3. 3

    Re-add each account

Sign in to the site, open its security or two-factor settings, choose to set up a new authenticator app, and scan the QR code with KeyAuthy.

  4. 4

    Confirm the code

Type the code KeyAuthy shows into the site to finish. Then remove the old Authy entry for that account.

  5. 5

    Save a backup

When every account is moved, download an encrypted backup from KeyAuthy's Backup page and keep it somewhere safe.
